Where Can I Get an Accredited Online Degree in Boston?
In the age of the internet accredited universities have begun to think outside of the box when it comes to education. The traditional form of schooling by going to classes at a certain time on a given day has been thrown aside by the advent of online colleges. If you are a resident of any area you can now take online classes from a variety of different colleges even if you are nowhere near the specific university. You can take classes from a university in Arizona while you are in Maine, or vice versa, it really has become an entirely new age of college education.
If you are a Boston resident and you are looking for an accredited online degree you have plenty of options. The University of Phoenix has become one of the major online colleges that offer degrees to students in just about any area. Kaplan University, Colorado Technical University, Rasmussen College and Walden University are just a few accredited online universities that could also be options to you.
Just because you have options for online schools that aren’t in your area doesn’t necessarily mean that they are better options however. Getting a degree at a University such as the University of Massachusetts can serve a variety of purposes for you if you live in Boston. First of all it saves a ton of hassle if you actually need to speak with somebody or get counseling from the University. Being able to speak with somebody in person is a huge advantage of going to a local university even if you want to take all of your classes online. Secondly if you go through a college such as the University of Phoenix or Rasmussen College it is possible that certain employers will not take the degree as seriously because they know it is an online college and that the student didn’t specifically go to classes. Sometimes even an accredited online degree can be looked at differently than your every day run of the mill degree. You can avoid some of the problems with this however by attending a university that isn’t specifically known for online degrees. You will have a full fledged degree from the University of Massachusetts and if you are a Boston resident most employers aren’t going to check whether or not you took the classes online or actually attended the University, thereby avoiding the possible stereotypes against online degrees.
While it is true that you can get accredited online degrees from plenty of colleges while in Boston, it may be better to get an accredited online degree from a college directly in the Boston area. Of course there will be circumstances such as what degree you are looking for and the price of attending that may sway you one way or the other, but it is good to know that there are distinct advantages to staying within your geographical location even if attending classes in cyber-space.
