As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Mount Everest, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. His first found him within 240 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. Three years later, Min Bahadur Sherchan, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to Everest to finish what he had started.
The 77-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of Mt Everest. With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Andrew Brash noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. Bahadur Sherchan last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”
They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. Further, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Andrew Brash with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. “The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on Chomolungma or Mount Everest. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though Chomolungma is shared by two countries. Climber from Nepal, 74, oldest person to climb to the peak of Everest Min Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism.
“Mount Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.
Now that Bahadur Sherchan has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. However, he was all too aware of the potential dangers Chomolungma could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused Min Bahadur Sherchan returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Chomolungma or Mount Everest. Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Bahadur Sherchan returned a hero to Calgarians. More than 3096 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.
They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”
This season mountaineer Anthony Loeff is reporting the scales for Mt Everest after reaching the top of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania earlier this year.
The Chinese were flying their airplanes over the Mount Everest and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. Sherchan just 9 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.

If you’re like most people that are new to golf when you first begin to play the game it can be very confusing. Fortunately, there are many golfers’, golf websites, magazine and books that like to provide quite a bit of tips and advice in order to help those that are new to the game. This is one of the great things about that fantastic game of golf; it can be very social for everyone involved. But it can also be a bit confusing when a lot of different people provide you with their version of golf tips for beginners.
Naturally, the best tip is to make sure that you enjoy playing the game. There is really no great need to worry whether you are doing everything right. Like any sport or hobby, when you have been playing for a while and have taken a few lessons your golf game and score will gradually begin to improve. There really are only a certain amount of golf tips for beginners that you can really make use of when you are first beginning to play. However, there are a few golf tips for beginners that are both easy to understand and can really help you to improve your game.
The best way to improve your game when you’re first starting out is to arrange a few hours with the local golf pro. Many people think that this is not really necessary until they have been playing for a while and realize how bad they want to improve their game. It really is a good idea to begin when you first start out so that you can learn the basics and mechanics of the game quickly and easily. Golf is not a complicated game and if you know the basics and are doing them right then all that is really necessary is to practice and that’s the best part of participating in the sport. Unfortunately learning to play golf may cost a bit of money but it is money well spent. If you can master the game’s basics right from the start then you will really be able to experience immense enjoyment of the game.
Learning how to get your swing right is one of the best golf tips for beginners. The swing is the basis of both being able to play well and also enjoying your game. If your swing is right then you will be well on your way to getting the fundamentals of your game correct, which is key to improving your golfing score. As mentioned earlier, perhaps the best tip that anyone can give you is to make sure that you enjoy your game. Get some instruction to help you with the basics but don’t forget that it’s a game to enjoy. If you enjoy it then you will want to practice and play more and your game will get better and that is one of the best tips that you can get.

How many times do we hear or read about some guy making millions upon millions of dollars to play a game and he is not actually playing? With the exception of football, this is due to the fact contracts are guaranteed in the other big sports. Football woke up to this sorry situation and the owners actually did something about it. Some criticize it due to the potential for a player to be cut and that’s that. Perhaps something can be done in the way of medical coverage for the players or a certain percentage of a contract going to the player in football.
On the other hand, we have the equivalent of “welfare cheats.” Guys who damage an arm or a leg in a sport like baseball and they get paid to hang out. It is almost amazing. The New York Yankees’ Carl Pavano is a perfect example. Pavano signed a big four-year, 40 million dollar deal to hang out, er, pitch for the Yankees. His first year was not a good one filled with injuries as well as this one so far. Although there is no doubt Pavano is trying to get back to help the team win, something is not quite right being paid the exact same money to NOT pitch as to pitch. Obviously, the team has to sign another player to take his place which puts a strain on the payroll and of course, eventually this cost will be passed along to the fans. In places like New York or Boston, the fans are so used to being hit in the wallet they are brain-dead to being hit again and again.
Many teams have guys with horrible contracts who’ve either bombed out after signing big deals or get hurt. Again, those costs are passed along to you. The Anaheim Angels had to pay pitcher Kevin Appier 16 million dollars to go away. Anyone remember the New York Mets paying Mo Vaughn something like 17 million dollars not to play? What about Houston’s Jeff Bagwell? I would feel better if he robbed a bank.
How about basketball with the Nets’ Jayson Williams getting paid after he was hurt and long done? Nevermind his trigger finger. We are talking outlandish amounts of money here. Not even one or two million dollars. More like 15 or 17 million dollars to go away or workout. Talk about madness.
On top of it, there is nothing funnier than seeing someone working a real job making something like $40,000 a year defending such guys and never quite connecting the fact costs are simply passed along to the lemmings in the stands. Comments like, “They should make what they can” or “If they were paying me that kind of money…” Well, virtually no person will ever come close to that kind of money and with that kind of attitude expect to pay more and more until your saliva is eventually taken from you, too.
We are not talking about people in a union fighting for dental insurance or calling for an extra $3,000 a year. No, we are talking about guys with 50, 60, 100 million dollar contracts who in no way can comprehend the origins of a union. They are about take, take, take. The fans are about give, give, give.
Perhaps a half-way measure should be looked at. If a player is hurt or cut then maybe a certain percentage of money should be paid out, not the whole darn thing. When do people get full-pay for no work? And these guys will not be on the breadline anytime soon; just some of the people going to see them play will.
Sports is a great thing. It helps us escape the realities of life. It helps us escape thoughts of stress, depression and death. But with the ludicrous salaries paid out to do a relatively unimportant thing in life and the fact the fan picks up the cost for this, priorities really need to be looked at. I miss the days when our sports stars were making a measly couple of million.

Sam Bat by Sam Holman is hitting them out of the park in the big leagues, both literally and figuratively. The bat is currently being used by the likes of Barry Bonds and more than 100 other superstar professional baseball players.
The love the bat because they know they can count on Sam Holman to deliver consistent quality, bat after bat. Though the bats are now made by Wilson Sports, Sam still selects the wood for the bat by hand. He chooses only 5 percent of the top prime hard maple for every one.
Don’t let people mislead you. Not all wood is made the same. There’s plain old wood, and then there’s prime hard maple. Not all brands invest in their wood supply as Sam Holman does. Even the biggest bat makers in the land don’t put out a similar class of wood product. You would think they would, considering their access to raw materials.
Perhaps, but it is what happens to a Sam Bat during the manufacturing process that also makes that 5 percent of hard prime grade maple special. Your typical bat maker uses standard lathes, which put too much pressure and stress on the timber when the timber is turned. Believe it or not, this pressure adds fatigue to the bat, weakening it before it even leaves the factory. Some experts estimate that your typical bat loses four to five long shots because of this weakening.
Sam uses a proprietary lathe, custom designed and built for his purposes. These high-tech lathes put entirely no pressure or stress on the wood during the entire manufacturing process. technology puts absolutely no stress on the timber during the production process. That means a Sam Bat will still have those four to five long balls saves in it when you first step up to the plate with it.

RC Cars offer all the excitement of motor racing at a fraction of the cost. They also offer a safe form of motor sport and allow youngsters to begin to understand car control at a very young age.
There are various types of RC cars that are suitable for racing, but the two main types are the gas-powered cars and the electric powered cars.
They both offer different benefits, and there will always be those who believe one form of motivation is better than the other.
The gas-powered cars are generally a lot more powerful and offer the ultimate in performance but they are a lot noisier and the motors do require tuning. Gas powered cars can sometimes be quite temperamental to tune and require some degree of knowledge to extract their ultimate performance.
The electric powered cars on the other hand are relatively simple to race and maintain, but they are limited by the charge in their batteries.
Electric powered RC cars are a lot quieter than gas powered cars and this might affect your decision if you are planning on using them in the local neighbourhood and want to keep your neighbours as friends.
Most of the top end RC cars offer all the suspension, gearbox and differential tuning as a full size race car, so the beginner RC car racer might feel a little overwhelmed by the amount of tuning that is required to get the best out of their race car.
Like anything else, it is a process of learning and RC car owners will soon find that trying different race settings can make a huge difference to the performance of the racing car.
Once familiar with the changes that can be made to the car, the owner will be happy that these variables have been built into the race car, offering those with the most testing and knowledge to have a decided advantage come race day.
It would be wise to look at the race facilities in your local area and talk to those who are racing to determine what type of vehicle you can race before making your purchase.
If everyone is racing gas-powered cars you won’t want to buy an electric RC car.

It’s fair to say that the past twenty-five years of following Aston Villa Football Club has come with its fair share of ups and downs.
But I can honestly say I have never looked forward to a new football season with such an overwhelming feeling of pessimism.
I was fortunate enough to be born just in time to appreciate the glory years of the early eighties. The team built by Ron Saunders and then nurtured by Tony Barton brought much joy and happiness to at least half the city of Birmingham.
Unfortunately those days now seem an eternity ago and things are much different. I’m still trying to work out how Doug Ellis bought the champions of Europe in the summer of 1982 and then proceeded to guide them to relegation in just five years. That must surely be some kind of record.
These days things are only slightly better. The continual decline under David O’Leary’s guidance is causing serious cause for concern amongst the Villa faithful.
The final third of last season produced some of the worst football seen at Villa Park for some time and relegation fears were only dispelled in the final week of the season.
The only team worse than Villa at the end was Sunderland and they finished with the lowest points tally since the Premiership started.
The only highlight of a dreadful season was the derby victories over Birmingham, ultimately crucial in the battle for survival points.
The lack of transfer activity due to the never-ending take-over saga is a serious problem and one that could haunt the club come the end of the season.
But for now, we Villa fans can only cross our fingers and hope. O’Leary’s promise that last season’s dismal position was a one off has bought him extra time from Ellis, but many fans remain distinctly unconvinced.
