Mobile Broadband Goes Cheaper as Vodafone Comes Out with ‘Passport’
The introduction of Passport by Vodafone is all set to bring about a shift in roaming rates from expensive to affordable. With its cost-effective schemes, it promises to be the cheapest mobile broadband provider abroad.
For just £4.99 a day, Vodafone customers can use up to 25MB of data online, which means it will cost them about 20p per MB. If they are interested in using more, then they can get an add-on of 25MB, which would again cost £4.99.
As per Vodafone’s estimates, 25 MB is sufficient to carry out many tasks over the internet. It is enough to go through 250 average web pages, navigate using Google Maps, read eight news stories on BBC’s website, change status on Facebook, watch three videos on YouTube of 90 seconds each and read through 25 emails and even reply to them.
There are also some smaller schemes for users like the per KB charge on users who use less than 1MB of data online. This is just for a quick browse of important updates and emails, which limit usage to about 100KB and charges are just 50 pence.
Contrary to 3’s claim, Vodafone is providing the cheapest mobile broadband service abroad, where you can also get 50MB at £9.99 in Europe or £29.99 outside the continent. This plan meets the requirements of those who are more dependent on the internet through their laptops while out of the country - if that sounds like you, then click here for free laptop with broadband info.
Calculations for charges for data used in a day are with respect to UK time, i.e. if a user has been operating the internet on roaming for one full day, his payment would be worked out in terms of the time in the UK, from midnight to midnight.
