Zimmer Durom Cup Lawsuits Not Advantageous for Hip Replacement Patients

Alot of individuals who got zimmer durom recall used in their hip replacement operations are determining that there are complications that far surpass the average expectations for recuperation. These implant recipients are feeling a lot of additional pain sensation for lengthier time periods, required to undergo revision surgical processes and enlarged medical costs, and losing income by being taken out of the workplace at their official businesses. Although Zimmer Holdings, Inc. is laying claim that that their implant is not faulty and not to blame for the surgical failures, several people are filing lawsuits against them and getting settlements.

During October, 2008 Zimmer announced that it had set-aside $47.5 million to pay for lawsuits they had received. Many doctors have reservations that the hip device is not the problem as the company has publicly stated. In fact, when Zimmer offered on-line education to doctors in order to teach them what was supposedly more precise methods for doing the implant surgical procedure, approximately half of the MD’s declined to participate. Therefore, the whole state of affairs stays on to be bothersome for everyone attached, but none more than the hundreds of patients who are expecting revision operation due to the problems with their implant coming loose in the socket.

These miserable poor people definitely merit some aid and compensation which is why product liability attorneys are telling them to start the lawsuit process. durom metal on metal has been paying some of these claims, too. However, even if the money they are being offered sounds like a fair amount, in most cases unfortunate people are resolving too fast and with no provision or allowance being made for on-going problems if they happen down the road. Without waiting to find out what cases are actually going to be worth, people might find themselves incurring alot more expenses out of their own funds when more medical issues exist or surface.

Anyone who believes they may have a claim against Zimmer should start peering into it. If you imagine you might qualify, you should probably visit a lawyer to verify this info. Look for a firm that covers across the nation and specializes in litigation against faulty medical devices. This law firm has taken out all the risks and has setup a special section to do due diligence and handle the claims against Zimmer and secure equitable settlements for their clients.

If your orthopedic surgeon lets you know that you require a revision surgical operation to resolve your Zimmer Durom hip replacement device, contact an lawyer as soon as possible.

A Tale of the First Luxury Chalet Holidays to Chamonix Ski Resort

It was 1770 when the 1st tourist hotel opened in Chamonix Haute Savoie France. Before this date Chamonix Mont Blanc France embodied a uncivilized and sturdy agricultural town where the locals hunted animals and farmed their own cereals.

Barns then were used to raise herds during the spring and summer. The cows milk was kept by changing it into cheese and stocked in the valley for use during the bleak winters. Throughout the snow season the farms were bolted, and all valuables were secured in a liitle shack.

Quite who devised the chalet vacation is unknown, it was likely several keen chaps who recognised a pattern which worked. For Erna Low it all began when she was a unhappy postgraduate who could not afford to visit her family back home in Austria as much as she would like to. Therefore in the 1930’s she took a punt and put a small advertisement in the papers to invite clients on a winter holiday. For only £15 they traveled to and from the resort, were provided with food and accommodation in the solitary hotel, and took skiing gear and instruction. The holiday was arduous work, there were no chair lifts, no safety fixings, only leather boots, but it was such a hit that she continued to take groups on vacations, ensuring she employed fantastic lodges and instructors.

The chalet breaks during the formative years were very different from the luxuries we get today. Hot water was in limited supply, bathrooms were used by all of the punters, and there wasn’t a chef; the clients were expected to help out. It was a complete lottery as to who might be in the accommodation for the holiday, one may be agreeably surprised to encounter fresh skiers, or have an uncomfortable week amongst strangers.

Ski holidays were later on marketed on their other benefits. A chef, who served you breakfast and a plentiful evening meal and even made you a cake, plentiful hot water for washing.

For more information check out one of the Chamonix official websites.

Making the most of a small bathroom

Making the most of a small bathroom

In bathroom terms at least, bigger doesn’t have to be better - It’s all just a case of making the most of the modest proportions you’re presented with! And what’s more, designing a bathroom that’s small on space usage but big on style and functionality should be a lot more fun.

The Click Bathrooms guide to maximising a modest bathroom follows three simple principles…

1 - Make it seem bigger

A great way of tackling a bathroom with limited dimensions is by creating the illusion of space. First and foremost, aim to colour your walls in lighter shades such as whites, creams and pastels, thereby avoiding the darker colours that dramatically reduce the sense of space inside a small room.

Good lighting is also a vital tool in expanding the look of your bathroom. By illuminating areas that are prone to shadows with strong directional lights you’ll find that the room opens up even further.

Finally, attempt to generate a feeling of space through the clever use of mirrors, which positioned correctly can literally make a room appear to double in size. For maximum effect, adorn the back wall of the room with one or more large mirrors, or a number of smaller mirrored tiles.

2 - Utilise hidden or difficult spaces

Time to get creative and think outside the box; can you utilise space that isn’t immediately visible? Start at the bottom by identifying any available low-level spaces - under bath storage is a great way to keep towels and toiletries out of sight for a start. If you’re struggling to free up low-level space, wall hung ceramic ware can provide vital extra ground room.

Then it’s time to target the high-level spaces - stylish hooks and hangers can effectively replace the need for bulky closets, whilst a large ladder style heated towel rail can happily accommodate all necessary towels and dressing gowns.

Don’t just give up on the difficult or unusual spaces your bathroom may present to you. Corner fitting WCs and basins can squeeze in to the tightest of spots, whilst short projection bathroom furniture and ceramic ware options should also prove equally economic with space.

3 - Get multifunctional

If space is really at a premium, try selecting bathroom fittings and fixtures that serve more than one purpose. Choosing a combined shower bath will allow you the option of relaxed bathing or rapid and refreshing showering without occupying the amount of space otherwise needed. Then there’s the dual functionality of the heated towel rail, working as both a radiator and a storage feature, or bathroom cabinets that provide shelf space, lighting and mirrors.

Finally, look to combine individual bathroom items to create harmonious multifunctional bathroom features. An inset ceramic basin can be housed on top of a short projection vanity unit to create a stylish washstand with ample low-level storage.

Modern Country Music Lyrics still retain the art of storytel

Country music lyrics are blasting on urban music stations as younger American trying to escape the emergence of bad pop and even awful pop music turn to this stable genre. Country music is currently gaining on rock as the second most popular music format on American radio stations. It is right behind hip hop in terms of people’s ability to identify a feel, a demographic, and a sense of rebellion when they hear the lyrics on many songs.

If you look back into early to mid 90’s it seemed that country music was on the decline. In fact, if you look at some of the popular hits from Shania Twain and even “I will always love you” by Whitney Houston, country music lyrics could only be heard by crossover pop artists. I’m sure that many in the industry thought this would be the end of great commercial successes for modern country artists.

Fortunately, the Nashville establishment held on to their traditions and developed a new set of country artists that would appeal to young urban listeners.

So why didn’t they stray and turn country music into a subgenre of crappy pop?

The answer lies in the lessons of the 1980’s. Country music went through a moment as the “it music” during the early to mid 1980’s with detrimental results. There were more stars, doing more tours and making more money than ever before, but the most popular country music lyrics at the time did not reflect the geographic sensibilities of the south.

They became caricatures selling urbanites on the exotic possibilities of redneck culture and vain beauty queens.

The Nashville gatekeepers learned a very painful lesson.

Pop culture mangles, destroys, and makes fun of anything that comes in its path. They learned that:

1. You can still get country music lyrics played on urban radios, but you will need your own radio networks

2. You can compete with pop by developing younger artists like Sarah Evans and Faith Hill who can present a pop image with solid country music lyrics on their albums.

So where does this lead modern country?
Still on the forefront, experimenting with country-rock, and Rhythm and blues collaborations.

It certainly is a good time for country music and an even better time for country music fans.

Interested in Improving the Sound of Your Stereo? Consider

Introduced in 1982, the compact disc was intended to provide better sound than the 40-year-old long-play record album, popularly known as the LP. Using a laser rather than a diamond needle for playback the compact disc was smaller, more convenient to use, and less susceptible to damage than the LP. A bonus was that the format was said to offer “perfect sound forever.” “Forever” isn’t that long these days; improvements in digital sound have come along in the last twenty years and the music industry introduced two new formats this decade that are designed to improve upon the “perfect” sound of the compact disc. Those formats are the Super Audio Compact Disc (SACD) and DVD Audio (DVD-A.) Over the years, various audio publications have criticized the sound of compact discs, describing the sound as “harsh”, “brittle” or “sterile” compared to the sound of the LP. After years of research, SACD and DVD-A were introduced several years ago and introduced sound that was said to be cleaner and more natural than that of the compact disc. In addition, these formats offered multi-channel sound, and artists such as Pink Floyd offered special multi-channel versions of their albums to entice sales. It hasn’t worked, and sales of both formats peaked in 2003. What is interesting, however, is that both formats still trail the LP in sales!

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, the combined sales of SACD and DVD-A were less than those of the LP in 2004. The music industry is in a slump at the moment, and sales of all formats were down last year. But sales of LPs were down 13% from 2003, while combined SACD and DVD-A sales were down 33%. It would appear that the new formats are failing, even though they are said to be superior to the compact disc. The LP, on the other hand, continues to have steady sales. While the major labels are still somewhat hesitant to release new product in LP form, labels that specialize in reissuing older material, such as Classic Records, are releasing as much product as their manufacturing capacity will permit. It is worth noting that much of this reissued product comes in the form of high-quality, limited edition LP pressings that often carry premium prices of up to $50 per title. Why are records continuing to sell while the new formats fail?

There are several reasons why records are outselling the new, “superior” digital disc formats:

# Format wars. Like VHS vs. Beta in the 1970’s, the SACD and DVD-A formats are largely incompatible. While players have been introduced that will play either one, most players play either one format or the other. Worse, neither one will play on a traditional CD player. You must replace your player to play either one.

# Multichannel sound is difficult to use and requires purchasing new amplification equipment. SACD and DVD-A both have multichannel capabilities, but neither format’s players have digital outputs. Both must be connected to amplifiers or receivers with special SACD or DVD-A analog inputs.

# Most of the music fans who preferred the sound of records to compact discs still prefer the sound of records to either SACD or DVD-A. Most will agree that while the new formats sound better than compact discs, the unique “digital” sound of compact discs is still there.

# Many listeners aren’t interested in sound quality. Arguments can always be made about the sound of compact disc vs records vs SACD vs DVD-A, but millions of consumers are content to listen to music in MP3 format on portable players. MP3 format is inherently inferior in sound quality to all of the other formats, but MP3 players are selling as fast as companies can make them.

The day will never come when records again become the dominant music format. The convenience of portable players for CD, SACD, and DVD-A discs and MP3 files outweighs the advantages in sound quality that records offer over those formats. Nevertheless, it appears that a small but steady market for records remains very real, and that that market exceeds that of the new “improved” SACD and DVD-A formats, which will probably soon go the way of the forgotten Elcassette, Minidisc, and 4 track tape formats of the past.

MAMMA MIA! is currently the most successful musical in the world with a total of eleven global productions, eight resident productions and three tours. Ticket sales generate $8,000,000 a week, and four more productions are scheduled to open this year. What is it that makes MAMMA MIA! so successful? Is it the music of ABBA? Is it the story? Or is it just hype?

To find the answer to that question I saw MAMMA MIA! at the Mandalay Bay Theater at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on February, 2004. The show had just celebrated its one year anniversary and had been voted the #1 Show in Las Vegas by local news pundits. So much positive press along with kudos from friends made the show sound almost too good to be true.

The theater is new and beautiful with comfortable, unobstructed seating. The curtain for MAMMA MIA! has an overlay of undulating blue and purple light that evokes memories of a psychedelic era when lava lamps were in vogue. It sets the tone for the play which is set on a tiny Greek island where a wedding is about to take place. As the advertisements proclaim: It is a story about a mom, a daughter, and three possible dads.

Producer Judy Craymer is credited with having the vision to take ABBA’s music and find the right people to construct a musical. She says, “I knew from the outset that MAMMA MIA! had to be much more than just an ABBA compilation or tribute show. The story had to be as infectious as the music and provide a strong feel-good factor.” It was while working as Executive Producer on the West End production of CHESS that she met Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. This was the team’s first post-ABBA venture and the show was not a hit.

After the ill-fated Broadway production of CHESS, Bjorn is quoted as saying, “What I understand after CHESS is that story is number 1, number 2 and number 3, as they say on Broadway. A lyric should take a story forward, and a lot of pop songs are static they have no drama in them whatsoever.”

Playwright Catherine Johnson was assigned the task of coming up with a solid story that would incorporate Andersson and Ulvaeus’ music. MAMMA MIA! is a cheerful show with poignant moments. There are more than twenty ABBA songs in the production, many of them Dancing Queen so familiar that audience members leaving singing. Even the little skiff is named “Waterloo”.

Mark Thompson’s sparse white set with an intense blue sky sets the tone for a holiday on a tiny Greek island. As they sing “It’s a rich man’s world” the bar/restaurant is cleverly lit doors are highlighted with bold purple spots and the floor is illuminated with what appear to be red rocks. Anthony Van Laast’s choreography is simple and efficient. Phyllida Lloyd’s direction is what smoothes the seams between the scenes and the songs. As producer Craymer insisted, the music is a natural extension of the action.

Twenty-one years ago Donna Sheridan played by seasoned actress Tina Walsh, had her own little holiday. The diary her daughter Sophie finds opens Pandora’s box. Sophie, the young bride-to-be is played by Suzie Jacobsen Balser, a refreshing new talent. Sophie forces her mother to reexamine the past so that she can discover who she is and what she’s really all about. “Slipping Through my Fingers” is a touching mother-daughter duet.

The supporting cast is also first rate. Donna’s two band members from Donna and the Dynamos turn up for Sophie’s white wedding. Played by Reyna Von Vett and Jennifer Perry they provide comic relief, wisdom, and as always, a few memorable musical numbers.

Sophie’s fiancé Sky, played by Victor Wallace has a chorus of male friends who are eager to celebrate the last hours of bachelorhood. When Act II rolls around there are so many questions. Which one of the three men Donna knew rather briefly at a time when brief relationships were in vogue is Sophie’s father? There are clues and there are songs, the most personal of which is “Mamma Mia!”.

Magic, Clown Magic, and Magic in Clowning - What’s the Diffe

In this article, I’d like to make a few short comments about the performance of magic in clowning where it’s appropriate, and where it’s not. For instance, it would be out of character for a bumbling clown to suddenly put on a serious demeanor, and with the aid of a beautiful assistant, saw a woman in half, or levitate her, or cause her to mysteriously vanish & reappear. Any of these would be totally out of character for virtually any clown.

However, it would be perfectly in character for a clown to attempt to be the suave magician, and be revealed for the charlatan he is, either by his own bungling or that of his assistant (likely an auguste or tramp clown). Since the clown is, by definition, a bungler, this would be fine, and totally in character. In fact, once having been exposed/failed, it would be fine for the clown to successfully complete the magic (with the help of the audience, a volunteer from the audience, or perhaps with a clown assistant).

There is another way for the clown to perform magically, however. Something that we forget too often is that the clown is, himself, a magical character, a ‘toon come to life. Whereas the clown cannot perform magic in character (most of the time; if it’s in character for your clown to successfully perform magically, do so! No one complains that a clown juggler can successfully juggle, or that a clown balloon artist can twist latex into wonderful shapes without them popping), magic can (and perhaps should) happen to the clown, without his even being aware of it. For instance, it is perfectly in character for a clown assistant to a magician to be handed three rings, only to have them magically link in his hands - with the clown having a befuddled expression as to how this could have happened!

Likewise, why not have the clown pull out a handkerchief to hand to someone (or blow his own nose), only to give it away/leave it lying and pull out a second from the same pocket (followed by a third, fourth, etc.)? Why not have things magically multiple, change color, disappear with the clown acting nonchalant, as though this is an everyday occurrence?

Now, if your clown doesn’t perform magic, that’s fine not every clown should, any more than every clown should twist balloons, use puppets, or have the same make-up as every other clown. But if your clown does perform magically, why not broaden our horizons a little, and truly portray a magical clown.
