Ground Teen Drivers

What is the best thing that parents can do far as helping young drivers drive right?
What is the best thing that parents can do far as helping young drivers drive right? Have them take drivers education? No.

Make sure they have a good running car? No.

In my view parents need to have rules for their young drivers and be willing to ground them from the car for along time if they do not go by the rules. Sorry young people but as that saying goes you will thank your parents someday.

One of the rules I think you should have is that your teen driver cannot have more than one other teen with them in the car without an adult.

In my state of Nebraska State Sen. Nancy Thompson introduced a bill that would have kept 16- and 17-year-old drivers from carrying more than one passenger, except for family members. The measure died in committee.

It was Thompson’s second unsuccessful attempt at getting the bill passed. I hope it will be her last fruitless effort.

It is even more sad that the bill failed because there was A terrible and needless May 9 car crash that killed three teens, coupled with this week’s indictment of the 16-year-old driver on three counts of felony motor-vehicle homicide.

In my view all states should have laws about how many under age people can ride with a teen driver. If your state does not have such a law I encourage you to help make one law.

However this does not take away the job of parents like I said parents should have rules for their teen drivers and if the teen does not go by them ground them from the car and yes your kids might not be happy with you but I rather have my kids upset at me than them hurt or killed in a car crash.

Ways That YOU Can Combat Terrorism

Calming anxiety related to the latest terrorist threat warnings
CALMING ANXIETY IN AN UNCERTAIN WORLD

With this week’s news of strong and growing concern of possible attacks by al Qaeda on the US and abroad, it requires us to face our fears and come to grips with our anxiety. After all, highly successful people don’t react to life, but rather deliberately and purposely fashion their thoughts to their advantage. Fear is not beneficial for success.

Yet, with numerous explosions overseas in the past few months and the latest warnings of possible 9/11-style strikes for later this summer, we’ve come to realize that terrorism is an ongoing reality. In the many terrorist acts (and attempts) in our post- 9/11 world, we acknowledge that those who wish us harm are not just going to go away (at least not anytime soon). And whether the national security terrorist threat level is orange or yellow, the ever-present threat of an attack on US citizens is real. The fact remains that while the terrorist movement has reportedly been weakened by the capture of many key al Qaeda leaders, new leaders are being recruited and trained as we speak. Like it or not, terrorists are here to stay.

As Americans we have a choice to make about how to deal with these ongoing threats. One option is to do as our political advisers suggest and be extra vigilent yet still go on about our normal lives. We can decide to continue going about “life as usual” and not allow terrorist-related fear to take over our lives. Or, by obsessing over the new hijack warnings on the news every 15 minutes around the clock, we can allow terrorists play with our emotions and overwhelm us. If we give in to fear, we will further destroy our economy, and change the way we live. Americans believe too much in freedom, however, to let the terrorists win in their attempts to destroy our way of life.

I have discovered a website that focuses on combating terrorism, called Citizen Warrior. Located at: ww.youmeworks.com/citizenwarrior.html, I have been inspired to learn what we ~ ordinary citizens ~ can do to fight terrorism. While becoming an ally in the war against terror may conjure up visions of learning to operate artillery in foreign deserts, it simply means that each one of us can do something to prevent terrorists from winning. We can make sure they don’t win by refusing to give in to the fear they relish creating.

Fighting terrorism is a choice we each can make, and if it is our collective desire, we can become victorious. Start with your family’s travel. You can carry forth with your travel plans and take your family to Disney world, Disneyland, or the Empire State Building. You can come up with ideas that can help thwart terrorists even in the smallest ways, and share those ideas with others.

In addition, you can continue to patronage places of business and spend money as usual. No doubt the terrorists are enjoying our sagging economy, and lack of confidence in consumer confidence in spending and investing. But by showing our strength as a nation, and going about “life as usual,” we will not allow those who wish us harm to win the war on fear.

And to quote Adam Khan, (The Original Citizen Warrior, if there ever was one): “There is at least one place you can share your solutions.” Be sure to visit the Citizen’s Warrior website to get more ideas. You could link here to the Ideas Page on CW www.youmeworks.com/ideaspage.html.

Interviews With Successful Ezine Publishers - Renee Kennedy

Renee Kennedy is the editor of The NutriCounter Update, a light-hearted ezine that provides one fresh article on a topic related to weight loss, diet, nutrition and weight management. To subscribe, visit http://www.nutricounter.com/subscribe.htm

KH: How important has publishing an ezine been to your business?

RK: I think that it’s important to attract and maintain customers in every way that you can. I always think of the “Rule of 7.” It takes about 7 impressions before a customer will buy. I don’t know where this rule came from, but it sure seems to be true.

The more ways that you can reach people, the more likely you are to sell to them. Having an ezine is just one way to advertise and let people know that your products or services exist. It is also one of the most inexpensive ways to reach customers and potential customers.

KH: How long have you been running an ezine and how many subscribers do you have?

RK: I ran a marketing ezine for my own business for 4 years. For the last six months, I’ve been the editor of a health ezine called “NutriCounter Update.” The health ezine now has over 6,000 subscribers.

KH: Can you tell me more about the “NutriCounter?” What does it do? Who does it benefit?

RK: The NutriCounter is a nutritional calculator that helps people keep track of their nutritional intake. People can use it for any type of diet including diets for weight loss, weight gain, diabetes, hypoglycemia, and heart disease.

Good health is always contingent on a healthy diet and the NutriCounter can help people monitor their diet and let them know when they’ve exceeded or met their individual nutritional goals for the day.

KH: Do you write and use your own articles to promote your ezine? How valuable has writing articles been in promoting your ezine?

RK: Yes, we write one original article each month for our monthly publication. It’s valuable to get and keep subscribers … but it’s also an excellent way to spread our URL around.

Once we’ve written an article and published it in the newsletter, we send the article out to several Free Content lists and sites. These articles always get picked up by several sites or ezines. We use an author’s resource box to direct readers back to our site.

KH: What methods do you use to promote your products or services within your ezine?

RK: The “Editor’s Remarks” section of the newsletter is the most powerful section. That is the section that everyone reads if they are going to read anything. So, if we have an important offering, we always endorse it in the Editor’s Remarks section. We’ve used many different ways to get people to buy.

Some examples are:

– contests
– buy one get one free or buy one get one at a reduced price
– coupons
– discounts (i.e., 10% discount only by clicking on this link).

KH: How do you go about preparing your ezine for publication?

RK: First, we research and write an article - trying to keep it between 800 to 1000 words. While that’s going on, I write the Editor’s Remarks section which will usually revolve around the article topic. Then I put the content into a premade template. I edit the whole ezine about 3-5 times. Then I send it off to our Associate Editor for editing. Finally, the Editor in Chief gets to edit it. It goes through at least three sets of eyes before it gets sent out.

KH: Any advice to future ezine publishers? Things to look out for or things to concentrate on when publishing an ezine?

RK: Provide original content specific to a niche group - don’t try to be everything to everyone, concentrate on providing information that you’re an expert on.

Be personable and reach out to your audience. If you can touch the audience you will have a high retention rate. People don’t just want information, they want to know who’s talking to them, they want the information to get a little personal.

Examine the ezines that you stay subscribed to. Ask yourself why you like those particular ezines or newsletters. In other words, read a lot - don’t get wrapped up in your own stuff, get out there and see what other people are doing.

The beauty of an ezine is that you have the ability to try different things … contests, ad swaps, discounts, coupons, HTML. Don’t be afraid to try different things and see what works for your niche.

For a lot of people the last time they wanted a magician at their party was when they were 8 years old but magicians don’t just work for children. Adults have always been a great audience for magic because they have defined critical thinking. They “know” it isn’t “real magic” but if the performer does his job right he can bring about the childlike state of wonder in an adult. A good magician can bring you right back to experience the fuzzy feeling you had as a kid when your grandfather pulled a coin out of your ear.

There are 3 styles of magic that are most often hired for events where adults are in the majority.

Close-up magic (the most popular choice for people hiring magicians)

Cabaret shows

Drawing room shows

Close-up magic is often seen at cocktail parties where the magician mingles amongst the guests performing miracles with borrowed objects and simple objects he has on him. He works without a table and uses people hands when he needs to. This is an excellent choice if all the guests will be standing with drinks and eating finger food.

Another type of close-up magic that is closely related to strolling magic is table magic. Table magic is performed between the courses at dinners, wedding breakfasts, balls and banquets. You are more likely to see a short (between 3 - 8 minutes) mini cabaret act that has a structured feel to it. The magician may use the table but it will be as unobtrusive as possible because at banquets there is a premium on table real estate.

Close-up magicians are being hired more and more for Trade Shows to draw people to the stand with customised magic presentations. Presentations are designed to showcase the features and benefits of the stand they are representing but with amazing magic and not just dry sales pitches.

Cabaret Shows are a great way for a lot of people to see some great magic in a relatively short space of time. Often a close-up magician who has performed strolling/table magic before hand will also do a 20 minute cabaret act after dinner.

There are many different styles of cabaret magician - comedy, traditional manipulation act to music, mind reading etc. The type of event you are organizing will dictate the type of cabaret magician you will require. If you would like lots of audience participation and laughter go for a comedy magician, if there will be lots of non-English speakers present then go for a visual act like the manipulator and if it is a very business orientated environed maybe a mind reader would be more suited.

You also see cabaret magicians at comedy clubs, cruise ships and also occasionally at motivational events where the magic is combined with a motivational speech.

Drawing room shows were almost a dead art for nearly a 100 years. They were immensely popular with the Victorians where the gentry would all gather to watch a conjurer perform magic. In recent years it is coming back into fashion at private parties where a magician may perform after dinner for 30 minutes or so. This is a taste of days gone by and is close enough for apparently no shenanigans to be going on yet far enough away to use larger effects for everyone to see. This kind of show is most related to a cabaret show but the effects are smaller and it is more interactive as the audience in only a few feet away.

When choosing a professional magician it is important to choose wisely as in any industry there are “cowboys”.

Questions you may like to ask any prospective performer you are engaging are…

How long have you been a professional? Some magicians may seem great on paper but as all know paper doesn’t refuse ink. Experience is the key in this industry so make sure they have cut their teeth.

Can I see you perform? The answer depends on the type of performer you are considering engaging. If it’s a cabaret magician he may well work at comedy clubs where you can go and see him perform and close-up magicians often work at hotels, restaurants and bars as the resident entertainer several times a week. If it’s open to the public then go and see them work. However if the performer works mainly at corporate events, weddings and/or trade shows you may find it impossible to see him work live as these are closed events.

Have you got a brochure/video I can see?

Most professional performers will have promotional kits including photographs, video and brochure. A good promo kit doesn’t mean they are a good magician, it may just mean they know somebody who works at a printing press. A cheap and tatty looking promo kit doesn’t definitely mean the performer is bad, but it does show a lack of professionalism and that is a warning sign. In this day and age some performers have no hard copy for promotional use as it dates so quickly so there website acts as the brochure. If the website looks like it was made from cut outs of magazines then they are not interested in making a good first impression. Would you trust somebody who didn’t make a good first impression at your event?

Does the price include VAT and any other charges?

When in negotiations don’t forget to clarify if there as any other expense other than fee quoted.

What magic tricks do you do?

You should be able to gain a good idea of the style of the magician from any online or hardcopy brochure but if you want to know what kind of effects he/she performs - go ahead and ask!

Are you a member of any magic societies or performer bodies?

Many magicians will be members of different magic clubs around the world. In the UK the most prestigious is the The Magic Circle where there are only 1500 hundred members world wide and you have to perform in front of experienced peers to gain membership. Again in the UK you will find many magicians are members of Equity the performs union which is another sign of their professionalism.

Have you got any referees I could phone?

This may seem like a reasonable question but a lot of magician’s work mainly in the corporate area and are not permitted to pass out the contact details of their bookers. You should be able to see testimonials and letters from clients on the websites/brochures. Of course the best way is personal recommendation; ask friends if they have ever hired a magician.

Have you got public liability insurance?

This is crucial. The magician will be in close contact to your guests and maybe borrowing objects from them for effects. You don’t want to end up with a magician who isn’t covered!

I hope this all helps to give you a better idea of the different types of magic that are available for you to hire for your next event and what to look out for when hiring.

I’m a 28 year old full time professional close-up magician in London, UK. Magic has been my life since I was a young child and I am delighted to be able to make money from something I love. I have been a full time magician for 5 years and I work at corporate events, banquets, balls, private parties and weddings performing sleight of hand magic. I work all over the Uk and internationally. If you’d like to know anything more about me you can find out more at my website http://www.noelqualter.com

Green Day: Punk Rock Masters Taming Mainstream Radio Their W

Before they got together as Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool were merely three extraordinary hopefuls hoping and looking for their big break. The trio has no formal training and got their ‘practice’ from playing for free at punk clubs on Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. Out on the streets is where the 3 talented individuals got their big break - they turned from punk rock’s most unlikely success story to a remarkable band with a series of chart-topping hits. Together, they sold more than 10 million albums and won a Grammy Award in the process. It’s been a long journey for the trio who started out singing out in the streets.

Both Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt were born in Rodeo, California in 1972 and have been fabulous childhood friends since the age of 10. At the age of 14, they carefully put together their first band, Sweet Children.

They recorded their first EP as Green Day, 1,000 hours, in 2 days flat and in the meantime, Dirnt graduated and Armstrong dropped out of high school. A local indie label “Lookout!” released Green Day’s debut album - at this time, Green Day recorded the album with their first drummer, Al Sobrante. Al Sobrante soon quit the band. Dirnt and Armstrong found a friend in Tre Cool (Frank Edwin Wright III) who as been a drummer with “Lookout!” since the age of 12. Together, Armstrong, Dirnt and Cool released the group’s second album, Kerplunk.

Green Day didn’t burst into the entertainment scene without followers and fans. That’s because Green Day, before the release of their albums, EARNED their following by driving their renovated bookmobile from coast to coast, crashing in their friends’ places and organizing mini-concerts for their fans. When they reprised their debut, Dookie, Green Day already have a throng of fans and followers. To say the very least, Green Day made immaturity and malcontent cool all over again. Their songs on picking scabs, pyromania….won the hearts of followers and fans who can tune in to the content and felt the pain and stress in the songs. The re-release of ‘Dookie’ took the world by storm because they sold more than 10 million copies in the U.S. alone and they won a Grammy in 1994 for “Best Alternative Music Performance”.

Green Day proves to critics that they are here to stay and refuse to be a one-hit (or even one-album wonders). With their next album, Insomniac, and in their latest album, Nimrod, they stayed steadfast to the punk philosophy. They maintain that being naughty is sometimes nice - even when you’re married and have kids.

What makes the songs from Green Day so wildly popular is the fact it’s easy for anyone to identify with the lyrics. They reintroduced anger and exuberance in a very offbeat and un-rhythmic sort of way. They have, what people will call, the finger-in-your-face attitudes. The sort of staying power Green Day has shown through their songs, it’s not hard to imagine why we say that Green Day won’t be making its way out of the scene any day soon - not today, not Green Day.

A graduation cap is an item of dressing the head and is based on the academic success. It is made of horizontal board, square in shape and is fixed to a skull cap having a tassel or liripipe fixed at the centre. It is also known as the square, motor board, hat or cap. The
Graduation cap should be flat on top and have a tassel. Hats are usually black in color together with their tassels. However, the tassels in some hats maybe golden in color and this is specifically fro the executives’ hats like the Chancellor or the principal. Some hats have standard traditional designs and they have elastic part for the additional of the comfort and grip.

There are also hats that are handmade for measuring the hard skull mortal boards and also soft skull hats. Bonnet hats are part of traditional hats and they provide tassels with different colors to meet the requirements of different institutions. The graduation cap should have the tassels hanging on the side. However, this depends with the consistence for the graduates in that ceremony and it can also differ depending on the level of studies. Most of the graduates prefer to have their tassels on the left when the undergraduates hang the tassels on the right. In some graduation ceremonies, students wear their tassels having put one side up and these only changes at the reception of the diplomas.

A Barrister’s Bookcase, Piece Two

A barrister bookcase is a traditional shelf that is believed to have originated in Wales. Its differentiating feature is a flawless glass face. This glass face is hinged at the side allowing someone to easily access volumes and other collectibles plainly by lifting the glass door. A barrister bookcase is ideal for many things. Barrister bookcases were frequently used by attorneys since it was necessary for them to keep on moving. Today, they are also very useful, particularly if one is always on the move. This is because the bookcase is closed by use of doors.. This precludes them from having to be voided on moving

These fine shelves

Good quality barrister bookcases quash the use of the normal sidewise opening doors . Instead they use doors with a different opening mechanism. A scissor mechanism used inside the barrister shelves ensure the moving doors do it in a parallel fashion without the problem of having the doors jammed or skew in the process. One favored position of using the barrister bookcase is the ability to have some of these units group together and have them secured to a wall. When done well, these bookcases give the effect of an fetching cabinet. They can be made out of a number of materials Whether madeutilizing wood or glass, barristers give a simple elgant show to a room.

Barrister bookcases however, despite their many merits, can be quite expensive. Fortunately, there unqiueness has caused some producers to start producing replica editions. Some modern versions are also available at very reasonable prices. Many editions have simple appearances and can be made to fit a particular style. They can also be trimmed and made into customized storage units at little cost. They can be stacked together allowing them to be easily used to create very interesting unit placements. Some can be used to create end tables, kitchen tables or even dining areas.

Danish Government Pays Compensation to 40 Breast Cancer Patients

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has passed a ruling stating that night shifts could be one of the important reasons for the development of breast cancer in women. The IARC is the UN’s leading source for information on cancer. Following the ruling, the Danish Government has decided to pay compensation to the women who worked on night shifts and who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. So far, 40 women have been compensated for the same.

Following the payouts, the HSE Chief medical officer Dr. John Osmond told the BBC that research has been sanctioned to study the argument surrounding the risks of breast cancer due to late working hours. He said that the HSE was quite aware of the problem and has already appointed a well-known epidemiologist for a two-year study into the matter, following which appropriate action would be taken.

All staff and management must be fully aware of and comply with health and safety regulations as laid down by law. Click here to find out about the range of nebosh courses available from the experts at Workplace Law Training.

There have been other health concerns too surrounding night shift work, such as:

  • Uneasy sleep;
  • Tiredness;
  • Digestive disorders; and
  • Increased risk of accidents at workplace

In the UK, close to 20% of the workforce works in night shifts and the HSE research will be critical in understanding whether their health is being put at risk.

Betting Saloon Taking Risks: an Introduction to the Betting Games Gambling Maniacs Enjoy Revelling in

A description of a gaming room is a building that features betting. Here, guests are encouraged to take risks handling one-armed-bandits or trying out a slew of other gambling games. Gaming establishment games normally have well calculated probabilities built in which guarantee the gaming company holds on to dominion over the gambling fans. Roxy Palace Casino

A legion of betting hall games can get you obsessed swiftly. We can look at the vintage slot machine, a cash operated contraption with three, occasionally more reels that rotate when a lever latched onto it is started. This instrument customarily rewards in alignment with a series of pictures displayed on the panel of the appliance. Disastrously, gaming room pastimes strive to create the hallucination of power, tricking the gambling fan — the victim is given over alternatives, but in actual fact they don’t nix the patron’s fundamental disadvantage. That is induced by the gambling saloongambling house never repaying the full sum as expected. This policy is continuously noticeable in well-known casino games such as five-card stud, dice games, roulette or blackjack.

Five card stud is genuinely a highly popular casino game. The guests, playing with either fully or partially guarded hands, make bets into a pot in the center that is finally awarded to the last participant carrying the best combination of cards. (As everybody knows, the coolest bluff can easily win) Not far removed from five card stud poker, blackjack too is a very fashionable casino pastime. Plenty of its acclaim is a result of its peculiar mix of luck and expertise & choice making, not to mention a practice named Card Counting. It is an approach in which gamblers may significantly reverse the winning odds of the card game to render them an advantage both by betting and procedural opetations according to the hands shown.

Craps is a well-known wagering game involving the throw of 2 dice. Gamblers may make wagers on the score of 1 spin, or on a string of cycles of two dice. In contrast to blackjack, there is no probable long term killer strategy players could capitalize on to boost the chances.

Roulette is an immensely popular casino pastime. A croupier whirls a roulette wheel incorporating thirty-seven (applies to French roulette) or thirtyeight (as applicable to Vegas roulette) separately numbered slots in which the rolling ball must settle, which will be the final winning number and the other related sequences. Supposing that our gamer wagers on any given number and strikes it big, which is to say they’ve got a lucky hand, the dividend is going to be 35:1, the original stake itself being rebated. Hence in total it is increased by a factor of thirty-six.

So be emphatically vigilant notwithstanding for these gaming hall games should be considered especially habituating. There’s a whole lot of lives that may have been damaged as a result of gambling & even if it can be fun, please do try to moderate yourself.
