France’s Top Skiing Towns Could Struggle Thanks to the Increased Price of Electricity

It has been predicted that the European Alp’s top 680 snowboarding domains perhaps will be trimmed to 395 by 2048. Flavia Lettiere said that the holiday industry will notice the pain prior to then, not from a want of snow but from a universal contraction in buying might coupled with the price of oil. What about rising temperatures? Investigators have established that a doubling of CO2 levels will augment ground temperatures by 3 to 6 Celsius. Even so there are still unanswered queries. The speed of global warming and the aftermath on local climate. A couple degrees heating last century has not been seen over the last million yrs. Even during the end of the ice age 17000 years ago the warming up of 5 degrees Celsius was over a period of six to 9 thousand yrs. Before that Araches-la-Frasse and Hautacam were under glaciers and Chamonix was the same as the Arctic.

So what is the future for low mountain ski mountains towns? Fuel troubles will commence to be keenly felt by 2016 to 20, with higher costs for a chalet, ski taxi businesses and skiing lift companies alike - so it might well be the end of weekend ski deals. The majority of the economy depends upon oil and France purchases 95 percent. Presently the bill is three % of gross domestic product. Should the price of crude increases as expected it’ll constitute 37 percent of gross domestic product, one can guess the economic downturn. The French Alps will witness the cost of agrarian trade goods climbing, plant life species will modify because of a adjustment in rain. Many people will quit the area thanks to the summertime heat. Its hydro-power will be a valuable source of power but it’s not certain that it will be a bonus because there will be much less rain, more water in the winter and less in the spring.

Gender Reversal

I may be a woman inside the powerful body of a man. Now, before you jump to hasty conclusions, let me explain. And if you’re a woman who believes it’s long overdue that we have our first woman president—-you’ll like this.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m the sensitive type, easily hurt. But I also have a more acutely defined sense of concern for others.
This is the opposite of a macho man.
A macho man can savage a person verbally, rip them up one side and down the other, insult them, and walk away, happy with himself. They never express concern or regret later on. Dominance is a big part of their scam.
Or, as John Wayne used to say, “Never say you’re sorry. It’s a sign of weakness.”
Yeah sure! Swagger around and act the big guy, the phoney act.
Our government acts this way because mostly men run the government. To be concerned about somebody else is to be a sissy.
I’m the kind of person, who, if you kicked a dog around the corner, I’d feel it. I can’t help it. If I’ve been rude to somebody, I have to come back and tell them, “I didn’t mean to raise my voice like that.”
If I’m rude, I say I’m sorry. Sorry Duke (John Wayne), but the inability to admit the truth, and that you’re human is a sign of weakness, not strength.
The other day the president of the biggest power on earth, angered by continued violence in Iraq, said “Come on,” daring insurgents to attack our own troops (the White House press corps tried to clean this gaff up, saying Bush only meant to say our forces were strong).
If this little tiny pipsqueak man would stop swaggering around, we’d all be a lot better off.
Hormonal grandstanding is one of the drawbacks of a real man’s man, and a male presidency.
I’m largely free of such feelings. Should I feel guilty? Ashamed? Not only am I a sensitive guy, on weekends my wife gets in the car and drives to meetings (she’s a workaholic) while I stay home and wait for her to return. Isn’t the man supposed to do this (drive off)?
I think I’ve got it backwards.
Maybe my mother was really supposed to have a second daughter, and my signals got mixed up just at the last second.
In any event, I’m proud of my feminine side, and secure with it.
I’d like to see a woman president, if for no other reason than she wouldn’t have to live up to John Wayne.

Amethyst is February’s Birthstone

If you’re still young enough to remember your birthday, you probably also remember the special birthstone assigned to it. But at your age, we bet you don’t really know the SIGNIFICANCE of your birthstone and what power the ancients felt would be bestowed about you by wearing it.
February’s birthstone: Amethyst
Birthstone powers: Brings peace and calm to your life
Alternative Birthstone: Bloodstone
Amethyst is the birthstone for the month of February and the traditional anniversary gemstone for the sixth of marriage. Once considered more valuable than diamonds, this member of the quartz member occurs naturally as crystals within rocks. The stones are mined in Brazil, Uruguay, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Zambia, Australia and in the mountains of Russia
American amethysts are mined in Maine, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Montana and Colorado. Amethyst from Maine is usually dark with North Carolina amethyst having a bluish tint unique to that area. Amethyst can lighten if exposed to strong sunlight for a long time. When heated to 550-560 Centigrade, the color changes to dark yellow or reddish brown. (They are then called citrines. These are more richly colored and more expensive then natural citrines)
Ideally deep medium purple with rose-colored flashes, amethysts generally range in hue from pale lilac to nearly black purple. Since purple has always been the color of royalty, amethysts abound in the ornaments of in the British Crown Jewels and in the adornments of the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, as well. They have been found in ruins dating as far back as the ninth century, adorning royal jewelry, scepters, and crowns.
The intense violet hue of February’s birthstone appealed to early monarchs, perhaps because they often wore this color…as a symbol of their elevated position. Purple dye was once scarce and expensive, so it was reserved for the garments of royalty, and the color came to symbolize power and status.
Sobering Thoughts with Amethyst
The Greeks believed that whoever wore an amethyst or drank from an amethyst cup would not become intoxicated. In fact, the word amethyst is derived from the Greek word “amethystos,” meaning sober. In ancient Greece, the gemstone was associated with the god of wine, and it was common practice to serve this beverage from Amethyst goblets in the belief that this would prevent overindulgence. It was also claimed that amethyst had a sobering effect on those “drunk” on love’s passion.
Even today, amethyst is considered a stabilizing force for those struggling to overcome addictive behaviors. In general, the gemstone is believed to be a calming, tranquil influence that symbolizes peace.
Amethyst and Prayer
Amethyst is symbolic of piety, spirituality, and a devotion to God. The rich purple gemstones are used worldwide to ornament churches and crosses used in religious ceremony, and they frequently found in the rings and on the rosaries worn by bishops and priests.
It is also believed that amethysts bring on pleasant dreams because they allow you to “channel” positive universal energy. As a result many people place an amethyst under their pillow before going to sleep at night to enjoy “sweet dreams” throughout the night.

Baldness is not just a human attribute. Hair loss is a condition where there is no hair in the part where it grows, frequently this is on the cranium & crops up in both human beings & animals. Baldness in men is prominent in view of the fact every bloke holds a baldness causing factor in his body.

5 Guaranteed Ways To Kill Your Ezine

DoubleClick’s recent survey indicated that over 88% of online consumers have made a purchase as a result of receiving permission-based email.

The most common forms of permission-based emails are ezines or email newsletters. Currently there are hundreds of thousands of ezines available on the internet.

Ezines are excellent tools for generating new and follow-up sales, driving more pageviews, building customer loyalty, and improving sales credibility and brand awareness.

Even though ezines are vital to the success of every online business, there are some marketers who unknowingly kill their ezines with not-so-wise marketing methods. I have highlighted some of the killer mistakes below.

Killer #1 .. Who needs permission? Just mail ‘em!

A recent study of permission email recipients by IMT Strategies revealed the following:

48% were curious to read the permission email 13% were eager to read
30% were indifferent
7% open it somewhat annoyed 2% deleted it without reading

When it came to unsolicited email or spam:

77% deleted it without reading 16% said they were annoyed but opened it 3% were indifferent to it
4% were curious to read spam email 1% percent were eager to read it

In the above results, we can see that 9 in 10 recipients of permission email were fine with reading the messages, with a near half curious to read!

But for spam, 9 in 10 didn’t even read the email or were seriously unhappy about opening it.

We can clearly see a remarkable difference in the response to permission-based emails and unsolicited emails. Always ask for permission!

Only add subscribers who have consciously chosen to receive your ezine. You’ll reap the rewards of having a highly targeted and loyal audience that are interested in reading what you send them.

There have been many times when I received issues of ezines that I don’t ever recalled subscribing to. These ezine owners had taken their own ‘initiative’ to add me their list. Such spamming antics only seriously piss me off!

Never try to buy a list of email addresses and then send them your ezine issue telling them to remove themselves if they don’t wish to get further mailings. That’s spamming.

Killer #2 .. Don’t let ‘em unsubscribe

Since it is so difficult to acquire new subscribers, let’s prevent them from un-subscribing at all costs. Heck .. just don’t provide them with an unsubscribe option in the newsletter. Then they won’t unsubscribe!

Nothing pisses me off more than newsletters that I cannot unsubscribe from. There are no unsubscribe instruction nor any email address to send an unsubscribe request to.

Such practices are totally unethical and unprofessional. If your subscribers can’t even trust you over something so minor, how would they feel secure doing business with you?

They may even complain you for spamming and tell people about your unethical conduct. Bad news spread very fast on the internet.

When your subscribers decide to leave your ezine, promptly unsubscribe them. Make sure you never email them again unless they decide to re-join your ezine.

Killer #3 .. Let’s blast them with tons of mailings

Recently I had to unsubscribe from several ezines that were sending me a solo mailing every alternate day!

In the beginning I didn’t mind those mailings. But after some 14 days of getting tons of advertisements, I bailed out. The DoubleClick survey revealed that the average online consumer receives 36 permission email messages weekly.

With that number of emails waiting to be read, excluding personal messages and spam, you wouldn’t want to be guilty of clogging your subscriber’s inbox.

Strike a good balance between your profit line and your subscribers’ interest. The lifetime value of a subscriber can be worth thousands of dollars. Why kill the golden goose when it can lay golden eggs year after year?

Killer #4 .. Forget about content, I got no time for that

With an intensely fierce competition for ezine eyeballs, your subscribers may unsubscribe after a few issues if they don’t enjoy your ezine.

You need to publish real content that appeal to their interest. One of the best ways to discover what your subscribers want to read is to check out the ezines of top players in your industry or related ezines with large subscriber bases.

If they are at the top, they must be doing some things right! It will be an eye opening experience to analyze the kind of content successful ezine publishers offer to their subscribers.

Never fill your ezine with advertisements that are disguised as editorials. Quality content is king!

Killer #5 .. The ezine that never came

Some ezine owners produce a few issues and skip the next few. Or they are perpetually late in mailing out new issues.

If you tell your subscribers that you publish your ezine weekly, make sure it arrives in their mailbox weekly. You lose your subscribers’ loyalty and trust when you fail to deliver. How can they then trust you with their credit card numbers?

Publishing an ezine requires time and effort. Writing up the editorial, proofreading and amending the copy (many times), testing the final copy and maintaining the subscriber list can easily take a day or more.

If you can’t afford to publish your ezine weekly, do it fortnightly. I don’t recommend monthly because the time lapse in between issues are too wide. Try preparing future issues 2 weeks in advance. Have available backup editorial content that you can always fill your ezine with at the last minute.

There you’ve it .. 5 guaranteed ways to kill your ezine. Well, I hope you’ll never need to use them :)

Is it Possible to Repair Bad Credit?

Bad credit can be detrimental to your financial position, in that it gives you an adverse reputation; it can also, at times, be a hindrace for you if you purchase on credit or apply for a loan. A low credit rating also results in a high fee being levied, thus increasing the overall debt.
In such cases, people generally resort to credit repair services, and mostly end up paying high charges to settle bad credit. There are other ways to fix bad credit; and they happen to be easy as well as free.

To begin with, determine the exact reason of your bad credit. It is not feasible to repair bad credit until you’re fully familiar with the reason you got into it. A few likely causes for this situation could be a delayed repayment of a loan; maybe some sudden events such as medical bills, job complications, etc.

Once you’ve determined the base cause to your problem, work your way towards the centre and focus on a fix that’s practical and efficient. Get an idea of your present-day financial status by examining your recent credit reports. Make sure you’re keeping track of existing credits and transactions. Use the recent reports from your creditors or yearly credit reports to appraise your financial position.

To actually fix your bad credit and get your financial status back in a good standing, you need to start controlling your expenses and adjust your lifestyle. Don’t delay paying your bills. If you can, pay them as soon as they arrive. This will avoid held up payment charges, if in case an unforseen situation comes up and obstructs you from paying your bills on time. Cut down your credit card usage as much as you can. To some, this may sound ridiculous, but if you look back, you’ll realize that the ancient people lived a better life than we do today, and they did not utilize credit cards. Uniformity in bill payments is the vital point here. Gradually pay up all your credit bills and you’ll finally repair your financial standing.

People often propose that you discuss with your creditors. If you pull the right strings and negotiate wisely, you could end up with discounts, instead of overcharges. Be confident and conservative. While negotiating with your creditors is not a surefire way of repairing bad credit, it surely can be efficient.

Prevention is the best method. Instead of having to face bad credit, why not prevent it in the first place? Pay your bills on time, do not delay credit payments, and cut down on your credit card usage. However, if you do fall into a bad credit situation, then abide by the tips above. Bad credit can at times impair your social profile and hinder access to loans on convenient terms, mortgages, etc.

How to Write a Newsletter without Being a Writer

One of the best ways to stay in touch with current and past clients, colleagues and fans, is to publish a regular newsletter. Whether you use a HTML template tool like Constant Contact, simply create a good looking text email to send out to your contacts, or publish something fancy with PDF, it can draw new business simply by making sure that no one forgets what your business does and can do for them. For every company that benefits from this form of marketing, many more feel they are not good enough writers, do not have the time, or are not comfortable enough with the computer to make the effort.

There are many ways a small business can develop a newsletter, when the full do-it-yourself route is not an option. First, keep in mind that it is acceptable that 20-30% of the newsletter is promotion and good news about the business, assuming the audience is primarily made of clients and prospective clients. To come up with the rest of the content, try these techniques:

1)People who know how to write well, but can’t think of subject matter can visit one of the many article databases on the web, and browse for ideas. The idea is to use it for inspiration, and as a brainstorming tool for topics. Once an idea is established, start writing for the audience and put a unique spin on it.

Some of these databases include:

www.goarticles.com
www.marketing-seek.com/articles/search.shtml
www.ezinearticles.com

2)Anyone who doesn’t like to write can reprint any of the articles in these databases. In other words, he might decide to do a feature article on, say, logo design, to provide some substance along with business news and other thoughts. This is perfectly acceptable. Just make sure the author’s credits and bio are always included.

3)For those who know their subjects, and are willing to write but aren’t confident in their ability, there is the option of arranging to have an editor. Many freelance writers would be pleased to have a steady monthly or bi-monthly arrangement, on retainer, to work on editing newsletter items. It is also possible to find someone who is willing to barter this service for products or services on a regular basis. You can also hire someone to handle the design and technical implementation of the content and manage your mailing list.Be creative and consider getting help if having a newsletter would bring marketing and communication benefits to the company.

4)When the subject matter is not commonplace, and available in an article database, consider asking members of specific industries or disciplines to pen articles for the audience in exchange for credit. If it is a complementary service, or related product they sell, it will broaden the information provided your audience. These strategic alliances can bear fruit in many ways if we are confident about the quality of what we provide our clients to offer them knowledge they might not get otherwise.

5)Subscribe to industry newsletters and create a compilation of the best feature articles there. Your audience will appreciate the effort you take to discern and distill the most useful information for them, and bring it to them in one place.

The important thing is that the information is of use to the audience, and that they have the option at all times to stop receiving the newsletter if they request it.

Make a realistic monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly schedule. Create a plan for how you will accomplish this goal. Determine which route you will take to build your content, and which tools you will use. Set recurring deadlines. For example, put on the calendar that the newsletter feature article is due by the end of the second week of every month, and whether writing it, finding it, or submitting to an editor, it will be ready to go.

With good planning and taking advantage of the resources which are online, nearly any small business can develop a solid, informational newsletter to share with their customers.

The Sky’s The Limit!

A gift basket is a great idea for just about any occasion. From birthdays and holidays to special events or even “just because”, there are many gift basket ideas. When you are trying to come up with the perfect gift for an occasion, a gift basket is often the perfect option.

First you should decide if you want to purchase a ready made gift basket or create your own. Many gift basket retailers can customize their products for a customer, especially if you are ordering a large quantity of an item. Retailers often have a wide variety of gift baskets for every occasion, though some focus on specialty markets. Purchasing a ready made gift basket can also be less expensive, after you factor in the cost of the basket, packaging, wrapping, and the contents. If you have a great gift basket idea and can’t find any similar products you may have to put it together yourself, though.

Some gift basket ideas include a Graduation gift basket, containing a keepsake item such as a Teddy bear or picture frame with the year and snacks and goodies. Along the same line, a gift basket can be a great send off gift for your college freshman. Not only will they know you are thinking of them, but they will have a supply of study snacks ready and waiting. Another great gift basket idea is for new parents. You can find baby themed gift baskets with blankets, bottles, and other baby items, but new parents would also appreciate gift baskets with dinner kits and easy to prepare food items. They will be busy, and it will be a refreshing change from pizza delivery.

With a little creativity, you can find a gift basket idea for any occasion. Don’t feel limited either. For instance, new parents may love a romantic wine and dinner-for-two gift basket while newlyweds might prefer a toolbox stuffed with snacks if they just bought a new home. Tailor your gift basket idea to the recipient, and they are sure to remember your gift!
